First, I feel I should introduce myself... I'm Trixie R Royale (or Trixie).
I'm colour blind blue, green and orange - blue and green are the opposite way around unless they're next to each other but that's a different matter all together... But I'm telling you this because I personally find it really funny that my signature colours for my acts costumes are BLUE and GREEN...
I'm a uni student, studying Performing Arts at DMU, just started my final year. I will be one of the first people to admit, it's not the course I thought I was going to or wanted to do. However I appreciate the skills it has equipped me with and the lessons it has taught me about myself.
I'd normally say I'm not your average Burlesque dancer, but actually that's exactly all I am. Average. Not because I'm particularly bad, but because I'm not exceptional or have a gimmick and I am definitely no longer inspired by the art of it. Which is really sad. I admitted to a few close friends earlier this Summer that my act in our upcoming show is going to be my last performance for a while - at least till I find my love for it again.
It might seem fickle of me, giving up. Some might even say I'm a quitter. However I believe the audience won't buy into my act or the art of Burlesque if I don't believe in it myself any more...
I realised I no longer enjoyed performing, it became a thing people expected of me, I found myself fishing for new ideas for acts when I wasn't actually inspired and I no longer feel comfortable in my skin - so why would I bare it on stage in front of others?
So I'm taking this time out to finish final year at uni and raise money in memory of a wonderful friend who passed away just over a year ago now. He was the most inspiring person I could have ever had the pleasure to meet. He was always happy and always trying to raise money for Cystic Fibrosis Trust, right up until his last days. I can happily say that he was not in pain in his final days and that he simply went in his sleep. I feel blessed to have met him and for him to help me through my hardships in school and so in return for the blessing he gave me, I am raising money with the help of the other two burly girls and our fundraising event on 27th October 2013 for Cystic Fibrosis Trust, so others like him, have the chance to share their love and kind words with those around them and help research into CF itself.
I will now leave you all to your days, not really knowing how to take this blog (if you read it).

Updates and Sneaky Peeks
Hello!!!
So it has been sometime since we have left a post but it its because we have been up to many exciting things.
It's the end of summer and the jumpers are coming out. It has been a busy one, we have been at festivals, been to Holland, been coming up with new acts, been getting new jobs, had Ruby's and Trixie's birthdays, getting ready for third year, had a few shows and also graduating!!!
but....
we have also been working on our NEXT EVENT !!!!!
Tomorrow will be the 27 day countdown to the next show, the event page will go up (so make sure you check it out and tell all your friends) the acts will be revelled and we may also give you a cheeky insight to some of the extra little things happening.
and....
on top of that its FREE ENTRY !!!!!!!!!!
(so no excuse not to pop down, even if its just to put money in my bucket - and I do mean my plastic Wilkinsons bucket ;-P )
Our events are for charity and this event will be in aid of Cystic Fibrosis so we want to raise as much money as we can!!!!!! (hence my bucket)
We could be having a few games, possibly a few stalls, maybe even a raffle
but....
we are differently having some beautiful ladies perform.
So tomorrow look at the event page, share it with your friends, check out what is going on, look at our new venue and see what our summer has been leading up to.
I will leave you with a cheeky quote to maybe help you guess the theme of the show before tomorrow:
“When I examine myself and my methods of thought, I come to the conclusion that the gift of fantasy has meant more to me than any talent for abstract, positive thinking.”
- Albert Einstein
Yes I did just quote Albert Einstein.....

Ruby Woo’s Doodle and a List
You may have noticed that
we aren’t very good at keeping up the blogging here at 3burly girls, so I
thought id take the chance while I’m at home for a week to find some content, so
here is a little doodle of myself and my 3 dogs :)
And
My list of
Things I wish I knew when
I started Burlesque:
There are many things I have learnt since I started burlesque but here is a few
things I think most of us wish someone
had told us at the start.
Wear Shoes you can dance in:
When a lot of newbie think
of burlesque for some reason we think we must wear Sky High Glittery Shoes, If
someone had said I could wear low heels or even dance shoes I would have
laughed them out the room but guess what girls and guys? It’s True!
Research, research, research!
Its sad but True that if
you think of an idea it has probably been done before, this doesn’t mean you
should never do it, but you should always search and check your idea is
different enough from any others that have been done. Unfortunately in this
Business imitation is not the greatest form of flattery.
Carry a notebook/ Sketchbook
You
never know when you will get an idea for an act, you may here a song or see an
advert, I have sat sketching many a costume idea between classes at Uni I have
even started to choreograph routines (in text form) on my bus journeys. Note it
when it hits you or you will kick yourself when you cant remember it!
Glitter WILL Get Everywhere!
I don’t just mean on he
stage or on your costumes it will be everywhere even after you shower. This
point seems really obvious so I will give a few little tips with it;
1) Do Not Exfoliate after getting covered in glitter, it only makes it worse.
2) if you have glitter on something you really don’t want it on use sticky tape or a sticky lint roller to remove it.
3) if you are doing a glitter pour lean back and don’t inhale it nothing is pretty about coughing glitter and
4) even if you don’t inhale it, sometimes you will sneeze glitter, it just happens.

Always be prepared
In general it’s a good
idea to carry a kit with scissors, tape, glue (super and eyelash) safety pins, a sewing needle and thread
If tape doesn’t work just use UHU!
Ah UHU a Gift from Burly
Heaven! I honestly believe that there is nothing this glue can not help you
with. Now for me it was very hard to find a tape to stick my Pasties or Tassels
on with due to an allergy so to start with I settled for standard stationary
double sided sticky tape, But this is not good when you are under hot lights or
you are likely to get wet I have had a few occasions when I have lost a Pastie
and it is not fun!
But then (nearly 2 years
in) someone suggested I used UHU *GASP THAT’S SUPER GLUE* yes, yes it is and
Boy it works and then it will just peel off like PVA did when you were in
school.
Haters Gonna Hate
Its
another one that’s sad but true, not everyone in the Burlesque world is Lovely
and full of Sparkles, but the thing to remember its to fill your world with the
beautiful lovely talented people you meet and don’t let the others pull you
down.
But
the latest thing someone told me that I think is important to know from the
start is ‘ Find out who you are, and OWN it’ there is nothing wrong with
being ‘The CheeseCake One’ or ‘The Dark
One’ or ‘The Funny One’ as long
as you Embrace it and rule the stage.

3BurlyGirls go to Glastonbudget.
Long Time No Blog!
You may be wondering why the 3burly girls have been so quite
recently, well if you have its because we have all been working in the
Production area of a local Music Festival (that just so happens to be The Worlds Biggest Tribute and New Acts Festival).
No Place Like Home
As the last of the 3Burly Girls to
get out of the mud and leave the festival a very long 4 days after the festival
officially finished I am fully ready to trade in my muddy magnums for sparkling stilettos once
again (or maybe just some fluffy slippers).
Home away from Home
As the Accreditation manager at the festival I have the lovely task of being at on the field before, during and after the actual event, but during this time I have learned
that if you want something... it never hurts to ask! So Trixie, Vesper and I put this into action over
the weekend and have opened up a fair amount of exciting opportunities that may
come to light in the next month or so.
But for now, it’s a warm shower to wash the mud away and
preparation for our first official photo-shoot as the 3Burly girls in a couple
of weeks.
And to round off this post here is a couple of photos
of The3BurlyGirls and some festival
friends courtesy of Fletch Photography.
And a burlesque quote for anyone who ever had a job that took a long time to do.

First Time for Everything
First blog from 3 Burly Girls don't you just feel excited?
So the best way to get going is to tell you a little a bit about us, not to much though it's all in the art of the tease. As the name gives it away there are three of us Miss Ruby Woo, Trixie R Royale and me Vesper La Rouge. We have set up 3 Burly Girls to bring a little glamour, cheekiness and a whole lot of boobs to Leicester's burlesque scene. Along with putting on shows with a variety of acts and whole lot of glitter not just from the burlesque side of things.
So when did it begin you ask?
Well Miss Ruby Woo and Trixie R Royale were in the pub when a brain wave hit them like glitter sticks to boobs. They decided to put on a charity burlesque night. So off they went in their high heels and corsets and did it. Now two shows later and £500 already gone to charity here we are - Shake your Tail Feather at The Friary is up and running.
Then.....after being back stage for the two shows and shaking my stuff on stage, I was asked to join the dynamic duo so after a pizza and chocolate meeting, bit of re branding we became the triple threat.
So this is us a little sneak peak at the 3 Burly Girls, there is a whole lot more that to say and a whole lot more to come. But I just wanted to give you a little Boston style to get you excited.
Follow us on Facebook, Twitter and our website, more posts will come soon.
We will leave you with a little advice for the day 'if you fall of the stage, leg extended boobs out'.
Love you all
